Knits 101: Undies | Timid Beginner

Ready to conquer knit fabrics with confidence? This beginner-friendly workshop is designed to take the mystery out of sewing with stretch!

Whether you’re brand new to sewing or already comfortable at your machine, this class will help you build skills and confidence while trying something new.

Are you curious about sergers? You’ll have the opportunity to try one out during class and see how it can elevate your sewing projects.

During this hands-on class students will cut and sew a pair of underwear. The perfect beginner knit project, because no one sees them but you!

Acacia Undies (sizes 0-30) from Megan Nielsen Patterns. 

OR

Gable Boxer Briefs (sizes XXS-6X) from Made for Mermaids Patterns

You will recieve a paper copy of the pattern. 

Date: This class will meet on Saturday, May 16th

Time:  9:00am-12:00pm.

Location: Class will be located at Pirillo Textiles.
(3800 Merle Hay Rd Suite 912, Des Moines, IA- inside of Merle Hay Mall. Use entrance near Flix Brewhouse)

We have sewing machines available to rent for this class. If you have your own machine, you are encouraged to bring it to class. 

You will learn how to:

• Read a sewing pattern.
• Use a size chart.
• Handle and sew stretchy materials.
• Choose the best stitch types to use for knits.
• Choose the right needles for knit projects.

Materials Required:

• 0.5-1 yds light to medium weight knit fabric 
• Coordinating thread.

Elastic will be provided.

Fabric and notions (unless stated) are not included in the cost of the class.

If you are wanting to order fabric, you can use this link or this link. It is recommended to order fabric two weeks before class. Please pre-wash your fabric before the workshop. 

Cancellations must occur at least TWO WEEKS before the class for a refund to be given.
